Lemon Green Tea Mint Julep

Lemon Green Tea Mint Julep Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 3 tsp Lemon Mint Green Tea
  • 1 cup hot water (around 175°F)
  • 1 lemon (for zest and juice)
  • 10-15 fresh mint leaves (plus extra for garnish)
  • 2 ounces bourbon
  • 1-2 tablespoons simple syrup (adjust to taste)
  • Crushed ice

    Instructions:

    1. Steep the Lemon Mint Green Tea: Brew 3 teaspoons of your Lemon Mint Green Tea in 1 cup of hot (not boiling) water. Let the tea steep for 3-5 minutes. Once steeped, remove the tea leaves and allow the tea to cool to room temperature or chill it in the refrigerator.

    2. Prepare the Lemon: Zest the lemon and juice it, setting aside both the zest and juice for the cocktail.

    3. Muddle the Mint: In a cocktail shaker or sturdy glass, gently muddle the 10-15 mint leaves with the lemon zest and simple syrup. This releases the essential oils from the mint without shredding the leaves.

    4. Mix the Cocktail: Add the cooled Lemon Mint Green Tea, fresh lemon juice, and bourbon to the muddled mint mixture. Stir to combine all the flavors.

    5. Serve: Fill a julep cup or highball glass with crushed ice. Strain the cocktail over the ice until the glass is full.

    6. Garnish and Enjoy: Garnish with a sprig of fresh mint and a twist of lemon zest or a thin lemon slice. Serve immediately and enjoy the refreshing combination of mint, lemon, and bourbon.

      Tips:

      • Adjust the amount of simple syrup to suit to taste.
      • For a non-alcoholic version, replace the bourbon with extra lemonade or a non-alcoholic spirit substitute.
      • Slapping the mint leaves between your hands before garnishing releases additional aroma and enhances the drink's sensory appeal.

This Lemon Green Tea Mint Julep combines the refreshing qualities of the traditional southern cocktail with the health benefits and subtle flavors of green tea. The zest of lemon and the cool freshness of mint make it a perfect drink for relaxation or social gatherings.
